Advice and Inspiration For Those With Myasthenia Gravis
Thank you for inquiring about Myasthenia Gravis. It is often referred to as the "snowflake disease," as the symptoms vary with each individual. If you or someone you care about has this dreaded disease, I am so sorry. It is my hope the following information, based on my personal journey, helps.
I had MG for 14 years and it was very bad. The many doctors I saw along the way prescribed various medications, but none worked for me. But that does not mean that meds will not help you. Not one doctor ever mentioned anything about nutrition or diet!
It wasn't until I did a lot of science-based research that I switched to a strict whole food plant-based eating regimen that the tide turned for me. My husband, Bob, got on board, too.
The meals we enjoy are nutritious and delicious! We only eat whole grains, vegetables, and fruits. We love pasta dishes, rice dishes, and so much more. We LOVE to eat, but ... No meat. No dairy foods, No eggs. No highly processed foods. We also choose not to consume any added cooking oils, as well. To some of you, this may sound daunting, but it is not ... especially when the quality of your life is on the line. This diet provides plenty of fiber and protein and can strengthen the immune system.
I cannot stress enough how important it was for me to switch to this Whole Food Plant-Based diet. It was the key to my reversing MG! I am now 84 years young, take no meds, and have been symptom-free for 18 years!

Along with this diet regimen, I exercise every day. Walking is best for me. Additionally, we believe that reducing the stress that comes with MG is important. So we added daily Qigong (click "Qigong" tab above) plus a mindfulness practice (meditation) which has been very helpful to our overall well-being.

I am not a medical professional, but I strongly believe there is healing power in the food we choose to eat. A WFPB diet can help prevent and even reverse chronic diseases. My husband and I personally experienced this, as have so many others whom we have coached and know.
​
So, here are some ideas to get you on track to transition to this healthy and delicious way of eating.
